Dr Abdul Hakim Zaggut completed his Bachelor of Dentistry with honours, at the University of Alfateh, Tripoli. He also completed his Master in Science in Orthodontics in 2007 at the University of Odessa, Ukraine. He served as an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon at the General Hospital of Newcastle during 2002 and he was one of the first pioneers in dental implant surgery in Libya in 2003. He is currently an active Board Member of the Libyan Dental Council and the Red Crescent. Simultaneously to his academic and clinical achievements he dedicated large amount of his time to charities and humanitarian commitments. Dr Zaggut showed great initiative towards many relief operations including direct relief activities in the Libyan conflict in 2011. He is currently the Dean of the Misurata Dental School and a lecturer in Orthodontics and Oral Surgery and a volunteer oral surgeon at the Cancer Institute, Misurata, Libya. Dr Zaggut is currently residing at the Queen Mary University of London, UK for his PhD to study and analyse his achievements in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery during the Libyan war as well as outcomes from civil procedures.
